IMPORTED RICE ARE CHEAPER THAN LOCAL RICE - JOHN DUMELO

IT WILL INTEREST YOU TO KNOW THAT IMPORTED RICE AFTER SHIPPING AND PAYING ALL THE DUTIES IS AFFORDABLE.

Is it the reality or one of those cheap politics?
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate elect. Aspiring as a Member of Parliament (MP) for the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency at the virge of doing anything to win power just as it's always done by politicians.

The movie actor cum farmer who is now into politics John Dumelo, is making a claim that food items such as rice  and chicken are less expensive even after being imported into the country with all the shipping cost and duties. Upon all the advocate by Ghanaians to patronize items made in the country Mr. John Dumelo is of the view that rice farmed in Ghana is too expensive as compared to the ones brought to the country.

A post sighted by SmartNewsGh on his Instagram account reads:

"It will Interest you to know that imported rice( after paying all the shipping and duties at the port) is still cheaper than our local rice. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a farmer and a huge advocate for consumption of made in Ghana products but the patriotic patience of Ghanaians will quickly run out if our local rice farmers don’t do anything about their pricing.

Same as our local chicken and the imported one. Once it’s cheap, it’s the best. It might not be the fault of the farmers when pricing. The unit cost of producing a bag of rice depends on external factors(high interest rates, taxes, fuel costs etc) which is beyond their control. We must do more to support farmers across the country. Competitive pricing and branding are sine qua non to Ghanaians being patriotic but all hope is not lost. Ghana shall prosper
#Idey4U".

Establishing his statement as one of those political talks is where he blames the current Government for being the cause of why imported rice are cheaper than local ones and his promise to make things better in the coming future.

He said, “Some of the producers in Ghana here, they should respect themselves…old man like me, they call me to come and work and they can’t pay me…” About seven producers in this country owe me monies…why? And then I’m sitting at home, I’m hungry, and then when I’m sick too nobody pays attention…Look we have elderly people lying down on their sickbeds and these producers owe them,” Well, The Film Producers Association of Ghana (FIPAG) is asking actor Kofi Adjorlolo to render an unqualified apology to the association for denting the image of its members in his recent interview.
