Former President Mahama has called on the nation to unite to help fight coronavirus (COVID 19) pandemic.
According to Mahama, the outbreak is a common enemy that can be defeated if there is a unity.
Speaking in a Facebook live on the Coronavirus Pandemic Mahama also disclosed that his former appointees who are knowledgeable about dealing with Ebola are willing to work with the Akufo-Addo government in dealing with the coronavirus pandemic.
The virus rises above politics. I urge my former appointees to support the government in every capacity. Let’s remember that the measure of our nation’s greatness is in times of crisis,” he added while rallying Ghanaians to take their personal hygiene top-notch by adhering to the directive of the Ghana Health Service.
Mahama assertions come on the heel of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo suspension of all public gatherings in the country for a month, following the detection of six coronavirus cases in Ghana.,
Additionally all public and private educational facilities in the country have been shut down, beginning Monday, March 16. The directive applies to basic, second-cycle and tertiary institutions across the 16 regions of the country.
Akufo-Addo made the announcement on Sunday, March 15, in anticipation of rising cases of the novel coronavirus, also known as COVID-19.
No death has been recorded yet, but the new measures are expected to contain the spread of the deadly virus that has claimed 6,500 lives and approximately 170,000 infections across the globe.
