FILM VILLAGE? UNNECESSARY, CREATE AN ONLINE PORTAL INSTEAD - ACTOR KWEKU ELLIOTT.

ANSWERS THAT CAN MAKE A LOT OF DIFFERENCE IN THE MOVIE INDUSTRY.
There has been a lot of back and forth just as The Ministry of Arts and Culture announced their intention to build a film village for the movie sector.

Siting the Film Village was a bigger issue. Not that there was no space to carry out the project rather, the issue, whether it should be built in Eastern Region or Kumasi. This sparked a lot of argument between the Kumawood and the Ministry since they were of the view that Kumasi is where movie is produced more and not Eastern Region. Others were also of the view that Mr. Mark Okraku Mantey being the President of the Creative Arts wanted it built in his region. A region that is not recognized for movie making.

Industry players added their voices and a lot more of issues. Eventually preventing it from happening.
Just as we thought this is over, Movie Actor Kweku Elliott has added his voice generating another controversy though, he made salient
points.

The actor who was recently awarded, as  best actor in a supporting role for the movie ‘sometimes in yesterday’ at Africa Movies Awards UK in November 2nd, 2019.

Granting an interview with Blogger Jay Smart over the weekend at THE CREATIVE ARTS SERMINAR AND LAUNCH OF QUALLOFEST 2019 held at Hotel JoeCarl Community 6 - Tema.

Has derided the the building of the Film Village as he think it's an unnecessary project for the Ministry to undertake. Instead, he said; " Tackle the resources, we do not even own a Cinema in this Country. We don't have a Ghanaian owned Cinema. SilverBird is for Nigerians and the other one near Kasoa is for somebody else. We do not have that. We have Arts Centres almost in every region in Ghana now, turn those Arts Centres into Auditoriums so that when a movie is been premiered, all the other regions will be premiered on the same day. It's a Nationwide premier. We can go to the bodies or the ministry of Tourism and Creative Arts and say, look, if I am building up a Nationwide premier, all the dividends or tax that come, a portion comes, as a tax payer, I will pay this thus I am paying this money putting it back into the Creative Industry.

We set up funds for people to walk in take money, shoot and pay back just as taking a loan. We have to set up portals. Something like NETFLIX. Ghana should have a portal under Ghana Umbrella where we do a movie get a standard and put it on for two, three months at a pay that anybody who watches, you will get this and that amount. Some goes to the governments some goes to your pocket and you can still invest back into your business. I don't think building a FILM VILLAGE.

We did one. Ghallywood, is sitting there, is rotten. What has anybody got to do about that? Now you want to spend over seventy million dollars or thirty million dollars to build a FILM VILLAGE in Kumasi. I think they should get the priorities right."

Interesting submission that when adhere to, will boost Ghana's movie industry.
